Ben Affleck Is Still In Treatment For His Booze Problem
That’s probably a good thing. Supposedly, he was sneaking drinks at an Emmys party. And I think we all remember where he popped up this summer. US Weekly sez that ambivalent Batman portrayer Ben Affleck visits an outpatient treatment center to deal with his alcoholism.
How do outpatient treatment centers, work exactly? I ask because I know someday the other Mr. Harvey is going to try and have me put away for my Ring Dings addiction, and I’ll argue for outpatient so I still have access to the snack aisle at 7-Eleven.
Ben was snapped on Wednesday entering an L.A. outpatient addiction treatment center.
Affleck was dressed casually in a sweatshirt and gray sweatpants as he entered the building. “Ben looked so happy,” an onlooker exclusively tells Us. “He was in such a good mood and looked refreshed.”
Who the hell describes someone as “refreshed?” That sounds like copy Ben wrote for Matt Damon to call in with, using his acting talent to disguise his voice as an L.A. yoga mom. Another source had a lot of nice things to say about Ben last August.
“Ben is taking the utmost care of himself and working on himself continuously and being the best father and best person he can be. Since his last round of rehab, he has learned what works for him in terms of living a happy and healthy life. He took himself off a film to focus on himself, his health, his family and his happiness. He is proactively putting himself in the right situations to be happy, healthy and succeed. He’s trying to live a normal a normal life and is focused on putting his family first.”
Since the offical dissolution of his marriage to Jennifer Garner (or maybe even earlier), Ben’s been dating Saturday Night Live producer and supposed midlife crisis enabler Lindsay Shookus. She was with him in Maine over the summer for that packie run and Ben was her date for the Emmys party.
Ben released a statement last March in which he claimed to have successfully finished rehab. Eh, relapses happen and good for him for trying again. It can’t be easy. Ben’s from Boston. There’s a lot of drinking. When you’re a baby, you get a can of Budweiser in your hand before you get a rattle.
